BIOGRAPHY
​
Belgian mezzo-soprano Aurore Daubrun studied at the IMEP, in Namur, with Françoise Viatour and Elise Gäbele, where she obtained her master’s degree. She won the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Concours de Nouveaux Talents Lyriques de Ans 2015. She is currently receiving advice from David Miller.
Her repertoire include roles such as Principessa di Bouillon in Cilea’s Adriana Lecouvreur, Amneris in Verdi’s Aida, Principessa di Eboli in Verdi’s Don Carlo, the title role in Massenet’s Hérodiade, Poline in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame, Madame de la Haltière in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Mara in Bécaud’s Opéra d’Aran, Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte.
At the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Aurore made her house debut singing in opera performances for young audiences such as Fenena in their Nabucco’s children adaptation Nabuccolo, Rosina in an adaptation of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, as well as Carmen in Carmencita et les Dragons, a new work based in Carmen. Then, other engagements have followed: Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata, Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Maestra delle Novizie in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, La Contessa in Giordano’s Mese Mariano, Viclinda in Verdi’s I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata.
With La Fabrique Opéra, she has sung Dame Marthe in Gounod’s Faust and Flora in La Traviata. At the Festival de Honfleur, in Normandy, she sang Dalila in Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila and Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. As one of her favourite roles, Aurore performed as Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther, at the Salle Cortot in Paris.
She regularly appears in concerts within Belgium but is equally busy abroad with recent appearances in France and Finland. Her performances include Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder in Brussels, Verdi’s Requiem, a recital with pianist Alice Ader in France, Mozart’s Requiem in Flanders and Un amour de Tortue (a Roald Dahl adaptation), with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, which she just revived.
After having sung with great applause in La Traviata, at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, she has been involved with the world premiere of Cassandra by Bernard Foccroulle, at the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie, and has sung the title-role in Offenbach’s La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein, at the Estivales de Brou, in France.
