BIOGRAPHY

Belgian mezzo-soprano Cécile Lastchenko studied lyric singing at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, in the class of Marcel Vanaud, where she obtained her specialized Master's degree with the Greatest Distinction, in 2012. During her studies, she received the Alice Tyckaert Heritage Prize from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In London, she followed her formation and  obtained a second Master's degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in the class of soprano Yvonne Kenny.
From 2014 to 2018, Cécile perfected her skills at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel of Belgium, under the direction of José van Dam and Sophie Koch.

Winner of several competitions, she won the 1st Grand Prize and the 1st Young Talent Prize at the Bell'Arte International Competition, the 2nd Prize of the Léopold Bellan International Competition (Paris) and the 3rd Prize of the Maria Amadini International Competition of Lugano.


Cécile has already performed on stages at Royal Opera of Wallonia, Palais des Beaux-Arts of Brussels and Charleroi, Cultural Center of Flagey, Théâtre Royal du Parc, but also at Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris, Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and Milton Court in London.

Cécile Lastchenko has started her career as soprano and performed roles such as Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, at the Théâtre Royal du Parc; Inès in Donizetti's La Favorite, at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège; Écureuil, Pâtre, Chatte and Bergère in Ravel's L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, at BOZAR Brussels and Opéra Royal de Wallonie. Later, in the good "Fach" as mezzo-soprano, in 2022, she sang the role of Rosina in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Charleroi. Among her next engagements, she will sing  Laura in Verdi's Luisa Miller, at the Opéra Grand Avignon.
