BIOGRAPHY
The baritone Daegyun Jeong studied singing at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, in Singapore, under the tutelage of Prof. Alan Lee Bennett, from 2013 to 2017. From 2017 to 2019, he has completed his master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Immediately, after in 2019, he pursued the concert exam course with a focus on opera and concert under Prof. Mario Hoff and Prof. Johannes Martin Kränzle. Daegyun Jeong took part in various masterclasses with renowned artists: Helmut Deutsch, Roger Vignoles, Claudia Barainsky, Lothar Odinius, Bo Skovus, Edith Wiens and Lucio Gallo.
In the 2017/18 season, he made his debut at the Theater Aachen as Forester (The Cunning Little Vixen) and, in 2018, he appeared at Kammeroper München as Guglielmo (Così fan Tutte). From 2019 to 2021, Daegyun Jeong was a member of the NRW Opera Studio and could be seen there in numerous roles, such as 3. Edler in Lohengrin (Oper Dortmund), Schaunard in Puccini's La Bohème, Messenger in Stravinky's Oedipus Rex, Samuel in Sullivan's Pirates of Pezance and Barone Duphol in La Traviata (Oper Wuppertal). He embodied Marullo (Rigoletto) at the Aalto Musiktheater Essen and Yamadori in Madama Butterfly at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen.
Since 2021, he has been a member of the Opera Fuoco in Paris, founded by David Stern, and made his debut as Guglielmo (Così fan Tutte), at the La Grange aux Pianos Festival, in France. Since the 2022, he is an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, under direction of José van Dam and Sophie Koch. At the same time, he is a soloist of the ensemble of Oper Dortmund and will make his debut as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) and Zhou En lai (Nixon in China) in the season 2022/23.
