BIOGRAPHY
​
Italian baritone Francesco S. Venuti graduated “cum laude” by the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence. At the age of twenty, he made his professional debut at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, in the role of Impresario in Donizetti's Le Convenienze ed Inconvenienze Teatrali. He took part in the Academy for young opera singers Opera (e)Studio 2018, by the Ópera de Tenerife, performing the role of Haly in Rossini’s L'Italiana in Algeri, at the Auditorio de Tenerife. Singing this same role, Francesco made his debut at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
For two years, he was enrolled in the Young Artists Program of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. During these years he attended masterclasses held by Alessandro Corbelli, Leo Nucci, Mariella Devia, Luca Salsi, Nicola Alaimo, Eva Mei, Jessica Pratt, Roberto Scandiuzzi, Bruno De Simone, Michele Pertusi, Giacomo Prestia, Roberto De Candia, Michele Errico, Carmen Santoro, Richard Barker, Matteo Pais, Giulio Zappa and Michele D'Elia.
Highlights of Venuti’s 2025/26 season include a return to the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino as Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème and his debut at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, singing in the final concert of the International Opera Conducting Masterclass by Giampaolo Bisanti, with the choir and the orchestra of ORW-Liège.
In the season 2024/25, Francesco sang Uberto in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, with the Orchestra Canova. At the Teatro Politeama Greco di Lecce, he performed the roles of Schaunard in Puccini’s La Bohème, Vicomte Cascada in Lehár’s La Vedova Allegra and Marco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
During the 2023/24 season, Venuti sang Raimbud in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory, at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna; the solo part in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Ein Lakai in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste; Marcello in La Bohème, at the Gran Teatro Nacional de Lima, by the Festival Internacional de Ópera Alejandro Granda in Peru; and Morales in Bizet’s Carmen, at the Politeama Greco of Lecce.
In the season 2022/23, Francesco performed the roles of Malatesta in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova; the solo part in Camina Burana and Baron Douphol in La Traviata, conducted by Zubin Mehta, at the Maggio Musicale of Florence; Johnny in Nino Rota’s Napoli Milionaria, at Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia and Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona; the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, at Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza and Teatro Verdi di Pordenone; and Masetto in Don Giovanni, at Teatro Grande di Brescia and Ponchielli di Cremona.
Between 2020 and 2022, as member of the Academy of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, he performed as Morales in Carmen, under the baton of Sesto Quatrini; Betto di Signa in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi conducted by Valerio Galli; Baron Duphol in La Traviata, conducted by Carlo Rizzi, alongside Leo Nucci, Francesco Demuro and Sonya Yoncheva; Un Arauto in Verdi's Otello, conducted by Zubin Mehta, in a triple debut for Fabio Sartori, Luca Salsi and Marina Rebeka; Marullo in Verdi's Rigoletto, directed by Davide Livermoore; Capitano in U. Giordano’s Siberia; Alcade in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, conducted by Zubin Mehta and directed by La Fura dels Baus; Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte; Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore (reduced version); and Commissario Imperiale in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, among others.
As member of the Accademia Rossiniana Alberto Zedda 2021, by the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, he sang the roles of Don Profondo and Baron of Trombonok in Il Viaggio a Reims.
