BIOGRAPHY
Winner of the 20th International Voice Competition Alfredo Kraus 2025, Italian soprano Gesua Gallifoco (1996) graduated “cum laude” from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Como and furthered her studies at the Rodolfo Celletti Belcanto Academy, where she participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned conductors and directors. She is also of the winners of 73th Concorso AsLiCo 2022, having as prize the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni, on tour by several theatres.
At the age of 21, she made her operatic debut in the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, directed by Gianmaria Aliverta. She has since performed on several Italian stages, such as Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova and Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, where she sang the role of First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.
She has performed many leading roles, including Norina in Don Pasquale, Musetta in La Bohème, and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara; and Zerlina at Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia, and Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona. She has also appeared as Sophie in Werther by Jules Massenet at Teatro Verdi in Pisa, and as Maria Rosaria in Napoli Milionaria by Nino Rota at Teatro Goldoni di Livorno and Teatro del Giglio di Lucca.
In 2023, she started her international career, debuting the role of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto in Jeonju, South Korea, and in 2025, Gesua debuted the role of Liù in Turandot at the Operaprima Wien Festival.
She has collaborated with distinguished conductors and directors such as Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Stefano Ranzani, Gianna Fratta, Davide Livermore, Mario Martone, Daniele Abbado, Manu Lalli, and Henning Brockhaus.
She recently made her debut at the Festival della Valle d’Itria, singing the soprano solo in Les Illuminations by Benjamin Britten.
Among her next engagements, Gesua Gallifoco will sing the solo part in Mozart’s Requiem, at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, in the 2026/27 season.
