BIOGRAPHY

Winner of the 2nd. Namur International Lyric Singing Competition 2024, the Belgian bass-baritone began his musical studies in organ and musical training at the Huy Conservatory and the Academies of Visé and Welkenraedt, in the class of Geneviève Chapelier. In 2023 he obtained a master's degree in organ from IMEP, in Namur, with Jean-Baptiste Monnot. At the same time, he studied singing at the same institution with Benoît Giaux and Françoise Viatour.

Very early on, his vocal skills led him to participate in the opera studio of the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Charleroi, in Die Zauberflöte and Les Contes d'Hofmann, where he met Marcel Vanaud and Karine Van Hercke.

Later, he joined the MM Soloists Academy at the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie, where he participated in productions such as Parsifal, Falstaff and La Dame de Piques, giving him to work with conductors such as Alain Altinoglu and Nathalie Stutzmann.

Among his more recent engagements, Jean-Denis Piette sang the role of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, in a version for young audiences, at the Opéra Grand Avignon.

REVIEWS

"Sarastro, the High Priest of the Kingdom of Light, is incarned by the
bass-baritone Jean-Denis Piette, with an overall broad and projected voice (...). However, he adds a funny and endearing sense of humor to his singing."
