BIOGRAPHY
Mathias Hausmann completed his vocal training in Graz, Vienna, and at the Royal College of Music in London, as well as at the National Opera Studio. His first engagement was at the Oper Graz. From 2005 to 2009, he was a member of the ensemble at the Vienna Volksoper, and then at the Gärtnerplatz Theatre in Munich from 2018 to 2022.
Hausmann has already performed in venues including Teatro alla Scala (Danilo in Lehár’s Die Lustige Witwe and Morales in Carmen),Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (also as Danilo, and Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro), Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Bunka Kaikan Hall in Tokyo, Royal Opera in Copenhagen (Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème), Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Bayerische Staatsoper (Guglielmo in Così fan tutte), Festspielhaus Baden-Baden (I Capuleti ed I Montecchi), Theater Bremen, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Opernhaus Zürich (Peter Besenbinder in Hänsel und Gretel), Deutsche Oper Berlin (Wolfram in Tannhäuser and Amfortas in Parsifal), and gave concerts at the concert halls of Munich, Cologne, Essen, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Luxemburg, Warsaw, and the Gewandhaus Leipzig.
Since the 2022/23 season, Mathias Hausmann has been a member of the ensemble of Oper Leipzig, where he sings roles such as Amfortas/Parsifal, Wolfram/Tannhäuser, Kurwenal/Tristan und Isolde, Beckmesser/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Germont/La Traviata, Sharpless/Madama Butterfly, Enrico Ashton/Lucia di Lammermoor, Orest/Elektra, Faninal/Der Rosenkavalier, among others. He has performed at Salzburger Festspiele, Edinburgh Festival, London Händel Festival, Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt, Wiener Festwochen, and Seefestspiele Mörbisch. He has collaborated with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Gustavo Dudamel, Adam Fischer, Ton Koopman, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Asher Fisch, Martin Haselböck, Christopher Hogwood, and Helmuth Rilling, and has given recitals in Vienna, New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Milan, and the Wigmore Hall in London.
