BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1989, he obtained his diploma in singing at the Conservatory G. Verdi and the Degree in Statistics at the University of Turin. Still at the Conservatory, he has been selected from the best students to take part in three productions at Teatro Regio di Torino and Teatro Alfieri di Asti, singing Sciarrone in Puccini's Tosca and Balthasar in the world premiere of the contemporary opera I Magi, from G. Gai.
Invited by AsLiCo of Como to take part in two editions of Operadomani (reduced and participated operas for schools), Matteo Mollica sang Verdi's Aida and Milo e Maya e il Giro del Mondo, from M. Franceschini (in world premiere). Then, he started to perform roles such as Fiorello in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Monterone in Verdi's Rigoletto, in theatres such as Ariston di Sanremo, Grande di Brescia, Sociale di Como, Valle di Reggio Emilia, Pavarotti-Freni di Modena, Ponchielli di Cremona, Fraschini di Pavia and Donizetti di Bergamo. Consequently, he obtained the role of Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, at the Teatro Pavarotti-Freni di Modena, in a production for children.
In 2019, Matteo came back to the Teatro Regio di Torino, as Geppetto in P. Valtinoni's Pinocchio, he won the auditions for the role of Dulcamara in Donizetti's L’Elisir d’Amore and toke part of the opera studio of Tenerife, performing not only at the Auditorio de Tenerife, but also at Tbilisi Opera State Theatre (Georgia) and Teatro Comunale di Bologna, opening the 2020/2021 season.
In 2021, he won the AsLiCo Competition for the role of Don Magnifico in Rossini's La Cenerentola, he played the roles of La Duchessa, Il Gatto and Il Re in M. Franceschini's Alice, at the Teatro Comunale di Bolzano. He also performed Alcindoro and Benoit in Puccini's La Bohème, at the Festival Puccini Torre del Lago, and debuted as Tobia Mill in Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio, at the Teatro Coccia di Novara.
In 2022, he sang Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, at the Teatro Sociale di Como and many other Italian
theatres, in a six months tournée. He sang again Tobia Mill at the Teatro Marenco di Novi Ligure and Dulcamara at Teatro Sociale of Como. In Roma, opening the concert season of the Università La Sapienza, he performed Masetto in Mozart's Don Giovanni. Highly appreciated in contemporary opera, he was invited by the Teatro Regio di Parma to sing the roles of Shere-Kahn and Gurilla in G. Sollima's Il Libro della Giungla, performed also at Teatro Coccia di Novara, Teatro Pavarotti-Freni di Modena and Teatro Valle di Reggio Emilia.
Matteo Mollica's upcoming engagements include Bartolo in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Noye in Britten's Noye’s Fludde, at the Teatro Regio di Torino, and Alcindoro and Benoit in La Bohème, at the Teatro Coccia di Novara, among others.
