YOSIF SLAVOV

BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1997, Yosif Slavov started to play music at the age of 7. He studied guitar and solfege. At the age of 18, he started to study voice at the National Music Academy, in the class of Prof. Niko Isakov, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. He participated in a masterclass of Krassimira Stoyanova and was chosen to perform a chamber program in a concert at the festival "Days of Music in Balabanov House", in Plovdiv. With Raina Kabaivanska, Yosif studied for one year, being awarded of a scholarship of the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali "O. Vecchi - A. Tonelli" of Modena, Italy.
In 2019, the baritone was invited to sing the role of Ben Menotti’s The Telephone, at the State Opera Plovdiv, directed by Paolo Gianni Cei. Shortly after that, he sang the roles of Schaunard and Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème. In 2021, Yosif Slavov debuted at the Sofia Opera & Ballet, as Moralès in Bizet’s Carmen, and at the State Opera Stara Zagora, as Enrico in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Valentin in Gounod’s Faust.
Slavov has participated in numerous concerts with the Sofia Philharmonic, as well in the annual productions of Prof. Niko Isakov’s class, in the concert hall of the National Academy "Pancho Vladigerov".
In the season 2022-23, he sang again Moralès in Sofia, Enrico in Stara Zagora and will come back to this same theatre as Sharpless and Germont.
