BIOGRAPHY
Polish mezzo-soprano Zuzanna Nalewajek graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, in Warsaw, in the class of Izabela Kłosińska. Between 2018 and 2023, she integrated the Polish National Opera Academy, where she studied with Olga Pasiecznik, Eytan
Pessen, Matthias Rexroth, Mariusz Kwiecień, Tomasz Konieczny, Veselina Kasarova and Edith
Wiens. She is a laureate of the following competitions: 12th International Claudia Taev Vocal Competition in Pärnu (first prize), 6th International Song Competition in Sofia (first prize), 11th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition (John Allison award), 19th
International Ada Sari Competiton (special prize) and 10th Veronica Dunne International Competition in Dublin.
She made her debut in 2021, as Dorabella in Così fan Tutte, at the Wrocław Opera. Then, she has performed roles such as the title role in J. Massenet’s Cendrillon, at the Kaunas State Music Theatre and Endla Theatre; Isabella in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, at the Polish Royal Opera; Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Second Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Lady’s carer-4th passenger-Feminist 2 in K. Meyer’s Dead End, at the Polish National Opera; Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, at the Wrocław Opera.
The season 2023-24 was very prolific to Zuzanna Nalewajek. Among her projects, she sang again Cendrillon at the National Taichung Theatre, Taiwan, in the beautiful Covent Garden’s production of Laurent Pelly; at the Polish National Opera, she interpreted Dorabella and Second Dame in Die Zauberflöte; at the Baltic Opera Festival, she performed Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and, at the Royal Polish Opera, Zuzanna debuted in the role of Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
Among her next commitments, Zuzanna will come back to the Polish National Opera for revivals of Così fan Tutte, Die Zauberflöte and Dead End, but also for important debuts such as Stephano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette and Jadwiga in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor. As a versatile artist, Ms. Nalewajek will also perform solo parts in J. G. Rheinberger’s Stabat Mater, with the Poznan Philharmonic, and Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater, with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, under the baton of Marin Alsop.
